The Skipper
Christopher Langham has spent a lifetime answering the call of adventure. With 8,600 solo ocean miles to his name, he has already crossed the Atlantic and undertaken numerous endurance challenges.
For Christopher, adventure isn’t just a pursuit—it’s a calling. From his earliest childhood memories, he was drawn to the sea, transforming his bed into a ship and toy chests into dinghies:
As a young lad, I would use my bed as my ship when I was sent to my room for a nap. My two toy chests were my dinghies. I would pretend row to shore after making it across vast oceans and stand up to declare the goodness and mercy of God to the natives.
That same spirit of exploration has driven him throughout his life, leading him to travel as a missionary to over 50 countries, complete nine marathons—including an ultra marathon and a half Ironman—cycle across the United States, and even ride an e-bike from Nevada to Texas. Now, the GGR is the next great test, one that aligns perfectly with his deep sense of purpose:
I do nothing and certainly take no ludicrous risks unless I feel a deep inner calling and with that calling an unshakable desire to do it, which leads to the courage and ability to get it done. The Golden Globe Race is not just a race for me, it is a life choice that is going to set me on a course for victory and success no matter what the outcome is.
Inspired by renowned sailor Pete Goss, Christopher sees the GGR not only as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream but also as a stepping stone toward his ultimate goal—circumnavigating the globe once more, stopping to help people and be a blessing wherever he goes. Driven by faith, discipline, and an unwavering sense of adventure, he is ready to take on one of the toughest challenges in sailing, proving that the call of the sea is one he was born to answer.
