GGR 2026: Day 12

A busy night at the Lanzarote film drop has seen more of the fleet turn south towards Hobart, while Pat Lawless continues to put pressure on Damien Guillou. Andrea’s arrival included a detour to the wrong marina, Louis is next to reach the gate, and Guy is approaching with work to carry out on his boat. Further north, strong following winds are producing impressive daily runs.

THE LEADERS

🇫🇷 Damien Guillou – SOLAREM

Damien remains in front after recording 140 nautical miles in 24 hours, with his latest speed around 4.9 knots. His advantage over Pat stands at approximately 51 miles, with slightly stronger breeze helping the chasing boat close the gap.

🇮🇪 Pat Lawless – SILVERMINES HYDRO

Pat has covered 146 nautical miles in 24 hours, gaining six miles on Damien over that period. Making approximately 7 knots at the latest update, he continues to keep the leader under pressure as they sail south of the Canaries.

THROUGH THE LANZAROTE FILM DROP

🇮🇹 Andrea Lodolo – BIBI

Andrea has completed his film drop after mistakenly approaching the wrong marina and then correcting his route to Marina Rubicón. The detour contributed to a daily run of 89 nautical miles, but he is now clear of the gate and making approximately 6.4 knots, with his attention turning to the long passage towards Hobart.

🇬🇧 Ertan Beskardes – MISS BEAGLE

Ertan has also passed through the film gate and is continuing south on the outside route. His latest figures show 137 nautical miles in 24 hours and a speed of approximately 6.4 knots, maintaining steady progress after his overnight arrival.

🇨🇭 Etienne Messikommer – BERNARD

Etienne remains in a close contest with Daniel after completing the film drop. Both have recorded approximately 151 nautical miles in 24 hours, and their boats are separated by only three miles, close enough to keep one another in sight.

🇮🇱 Daniel Pinsky – EXODUS

Daniel is back underway after his overnight passage through the gate, making approximately 6.6 knots. His 151-mile daily run matches Etienne’s, keeping their battle closely balanced as they leave Lanzarote behind.

🇮🇹 Guido Cantini – HANNAH OF COWES

Guido has completed his film drop following an interview reflecting on life aboard and the intensity of the opening stage. He is now making approximately 6.9 knots, with 157 nautical miles covered in 24 hours, and is keen to reach open water and catch up on sleep.

APPROACHING LANZAROTE

🇫🇷 Louis Kerdelhué – IE CHARGE

Louis is next through the film gate, with his arrival expected at approximately 09:30 at the time of the report. A strong 161-nautical-mile day has brought him within a few miles of the final approach, where he is making around 6 knots.

🇺🇸 Guy deBoer – SPIRIT

Guy is approaching after adjusting his course towards the island, with 127 nautical miles covered in 24 hours. His arrival is expected during the afternoon, and he may anchor to carry out work on his boat before completing the film drop.

🇬🇧 Henry Wootton – PRIVATEER

Henry has produced the strongest daily run highlighted in this update, covering 170 nautical miles in 24 hours. Holding approximately 7 knots, he continues to make excellent use of the following breeze as he approaches Lanzarote.

🇳🇴 Helga Marie (Mara) Løvenskiold Kveseth – SHOWGIRL

Mara has covered 150 nautical miles in 24 hours while sharing lively footage through the GGR Window. Sailing with two poled-out headsails and a staysail, with the mainsail down, she has been enjoying fast downwind sailing, with speeds briefly reaching almost 10 knots.

🇨🇦 Isa Rosli – OLLEANNA

Isa is making approximately 6.6 knots, with a daily run of 135 nautical miles. The following winds are keeping him moving steadily towards the film gate, although Henry and Mara have recorded stronger runs over the same period.

🇬🇧 Gunnar Christensen – POMPOEN

Gunnar is maintaining approximately 6 knots, having covered 134 nautical miles in 24 hours. His progress closely matches Matt’s, leaving little change between them as they continue south.

🇺🇸 Matt Woodside – TIPI HAERE

Matt is also making approximately 6 knots, with a daily run of around 135 nautical miles. Sailing in roughly 25–30 knots of breeze and seas around three metres, he continues to benefit from the strong following conditions.

AT THE BACK OF THE FLEET

🇸🇪 Pär Nyman – LAZY OTTER

Pär is gradually extending his advantage over Selim, recording 135 nautical miles in 24 hours and making approximately 5.7 knots. His route takes him further offshore as he continues south in the stronger breeze.

🇹🇷 Selim Yalçın – HELP DISABLED CHILDREN

Selim is following the coastal edge of the heavier weather, making approximately 5.1 knots with a 120-nautical-mile daily run. He has described gale conditions and occasional seas of around five metres, taking shelter under a blanket with soup as an early taste of Southern Ocean life.
