Nérée Cornuz was born and raised on his parent’s 42ft ketch Neree II, Cornuz completed his first Atlantic crossing at the age of 2 and has been sailing and racing all kind of boats ever since. At 19, he joined the Merchant Navy and spent five years transiting the Indian and Pacific oceans. In 2014, he set up base as a sailing instructor in Geneva, Switzerland which gave him the opportunity to race throughout the Mediterranean.
Nérée is the youngest entrant in the 2018 GGR.
He purchased an engine-less Lello 34 yacht in Cape Town which he is currently sailing singlehanded 8,000 miles to the Mediterranean. He has had to overcome broken rigging and troubles with his homemade wind vane self steering during the voyage but is persevering.

Nérée Cornuz was the first to select the South African designed and built Lello 34 fast cruising yacht to compete in the 2018 GGR. Now there a three of these Brian Lello designs, promising some keen match racing in 2018. Nérée’s yacht, Rendezvous, is currently undergoing a major refit with a watertight bulkhead and a bubble hatch where he will control the sails and navigate under during times of bad weather.
